Newcastle United’s chief executive, Darren Eales, has emphatically stated that the club is not under any pressure to sell their standout striker, Alexander Isak. This affirmation comes during a time of intense speculation regarding Isak’s future, as he has been linked to several top European clubs, including Premier League teams like Liverpool and Arsenal.
Isak, who is under contract with Newcastle until 2028, has enjoyed a prolific season, netting 22 goals in just 31 appearances across all competitions. Despite the growing interest from other clubs, Eales expressed the club’s commitment to retaining their star player, indicating plans to negotiate an extension for the 25-year-old Sweden international’s contract this coming summer.
“All our players are on long-term contracts, and we have no intention of letting anyone go,” Eales noted in a recent interview. “We’re not facing any urgency, and our ownership is driven by ambition to elevate this club. Considering that, it wouldn’t make sense to entertain any transfer offers.”
Newcastle is currently positioned sixth in the Premier League, trailing fourth-placed Manchester City by just three points. Eales shared enthusiasm for the upcoming summer transfer window, highlighting the financial growth of the club, which reported a revenue increase to £320 million ($409 million) in the financial year ending June 2024—a 28% rise from the previous year, bolstered by their return to the Champions League.
“We’re entering a new cycle under the Profit and Sustainability Rules, which is promising for our future,” Eales added. “Ultimately, our focus lies in acquiring players that align with [manager] Eddie [Howe]’s vision for the squad.”
Maintaining their core talent not only demonstrates Newcastle’s ambitions but also reflects their strategy to build a competitive team capable of challenging for significant titles in the future.
