Ferrari’s New Trend: Younger Buyers Are Revving Up

If you thought Ferraris were just for the older crowd, think again! A recent revelation from Ferrari’s CEO, Benedetto Vigna, says that a whopping 40% of their new buyers are now under the age of 40. Can you believe it? That’s a significant jump from just 30% a year and a half ago. Talk about a generational shift!

The Ferrari Experience

Vigna shared these insights during chats at the CONVERGE LIVE event in Singapore. He proudly announced that this surge in younger clientele is a testament to the brand’s appeal and the team’s hard work. It seems like Ferraris are increasingly becoming the dream car for younger enthusiasts.

But here’s a fun fact: Ferrari is super intentional about maintaining its exclusivity. They’re known for producing fewer cars than the market demands, which means if you snag one, it’s a big deal. In fact, around three-quarters of Ferraris sold last year were to existing customers. Founder Enzo Ferrari once famously said they’d “always deliver one less car than the market demands” — a motto they definitely seem to live by!

Waiting Lists and Buyer Motivation

Now, if you’re eyeing one of these beauties, don’t get too eager. Vigna mentioned that there can be more than a two-year wait for a new model. Some prospective buyers have urged Ferrari to speed up production, but Vigna believes this waiting period enhances the buying experience, making it feel more special.

He even shared a light-hearted story about a 78-year-old who insisted he couldn’t wait that long, while a 37-year-old was banking on getting his before the big 4-0. The anticipation is part of the fun!

Looking Ahead to Electric

And here’s something to seriously rev your engines over: Ferrari is gearing up for the launch of its first fully electric vehicle, which is set to hit the roads on October 9. This new model will join a lineup of six new cars the company plans to unveil this year.

Vigna addressed the shifting market, noting that while some die-hard fans may not be interested in an electric Ferrari, there are plenty of potential buyers who are all in for an EV. It’s all about offering options these days, and Ferrari is more than ready to embrace the change.

So, whether you’re a long-time fan or just beginning to appreciate these legends of the road, it sounds like Ferrari is steering into a bright future with lots of exciting things on the horizon!
