Bryce James Leads Sierra Canyon to CIF State Title
If you missed it, Bryce James just made a name for himself, leading the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers to the CIF State Division 1 title! This was a huge moment for Bryce, especially since, unlike his older brother Bronny, he wasn’t the top high school player on everyone’s radar. But man, did he step up when it mattered.
Championship Night
On the big night, Sierra Canyon faced Lincoln from Stockton, California, and it wasn’t easy. The game was held at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, and let me tell you, Trojans fans were out in full force, ready to cheer on their team. You could feel the energy in the air!
Now, LeBron James, Bryce’s dad and NBA superstar, made quite an entrance despite nursing a groin injury. He showed up in a stylish Trailblazers sweatsuit, ready to support his son while dealing with the chaos of fans trying to get a selfie with him. Talk about being a celebrity’s child!
A Rocky Start
Bryce had a bit of a rough start though—struggling to find his rhythm and hitting only 1 out of 5 shots in the first half. At halftime, the Trailblazers were trailing by 4 points. Yikes! But this kid doesn’t back down easily.
When the second half rolled around, despite not lighting up the scoreboard, Bryce found a way to contribute, helping his team take a two-point lead late in the game with some hustle plays. He ended with a modest stat line—3 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists—proving that sometimes it’s about being part of the team rather than just racking up points.
Victory and Family Cheers
The game wrapped up with Sierra Canyon taking the W, 58-53! After the trophy was lifted high, there was a touching moment as Bryce embraced his family courtside. It was a beautiful sight, with LeBron, Savannah, and little sister Zhuri all there to share in the excitement.
As the high school chapter of the James family closes, we look ahead to what’s next for Bryce, who has already committed to play at Arizona. And let’s not forget about his sister, who’s making waves in volleyball—clearly, the competitive spirit runs deep in this family!
Stay tuned because, while we say goodbye to this era of high school basketball for the Jameses, we know there’s a lot more to come from this talented family!
